Prepare & Aftercare

Prepare in advance.

Hydrate and moisturize.

We enjoy a good drink with the rest of ‘em but your skin health starts with your water intake. Drink plenty of water the day of and the day prior to your tattoo appointment. Lotions and body oils offer a great amount of moisture as a supplemental means to having tattoo-ready skin.

Dress to impress.

Hey, we’re super laid back and non-judgmental here. It’s kind of our thing. But showing up in a solid body suit when we’re trying to tattoo your left hip makes our job much more difficult than it should be. Wear clothes that allow for your chosen placement to be easily accessible.

Bring your ID.

Take care of your investment.

Be a clean human.

Professionally handpoked tattoos tend to heal more quickly than a conventional tattoo done by a machine. It is still very important to be diligent in the aftercare of your new tattoo and we suggest one of the following options:

Aquaphor healing ointment is the standard option. This is used during the tattoo process and then a thin layer is applied by the artist at the end of your appointment. Because of how quickly and efficiently our tattoos heal, prolonged use of any healing ointment for our tattoos is not necessary. However…

For the week following your appointment, cleanse the tattooed area, focusing on rinsing all soap and any residue, and then apply a thin layer of a fragrance-free moisturizer. Do this once in the morning and once at night before bed.

Saniderm is an aftercare product that acts like a second skin. (This product is not ideal if a client is sensitive to adhesive in any way such as having a poor reaction to bandaids, medical tape, etc.) Saniderm can be provided and applied by the artist at the end of your appointment and protects your new art from the elements. It is waterproof and can be removed between 24 and 48 hours after your appointment.

Removing Saniderm is easiest to do in the shower with the warmth of the water helping loosen the adhesive from the skin. Clean the area well, focusing on rinsing all soap and residue, and then follow up with moisturizer.

* ALL CLIENTS WILL RECEIVE AN AFTERCARE PACKET THAT WILL INCLUDE INSTRUCTIONS, MOISTURIZER, A BLACK SPOT STICKER, AND A RANDOM SURPRISE.

For long-term care, use sunscreen and moisturizer daily.

Exfoliate weekly. Stay hydrated.
